What is Volunteering?
Formal volunteering is an activity which takes place through not-for-profit organisations and projects, which benefits both the community and the volunteer.
Why become a Volunteer?
Volunteering is a great way to build on your work and life skills. It can broaden your horizons and give you an opportunity to meet new people and make new contacts. The benefits of volunteering cannot be underestimated. Some of the benefits and opportunities Volunteering can offer you include, but are not limited to:
- Learning about your community.
- Having fun and enjoying yourself.
- Being more positive.
- Having a sense of self-worth.
- Trying something different.
- Sharing your knowledge.
- Maintaining your skills.
- Learning new skills.
- Accessing training.
Where can I Volunteer?
Individuals can volunteer their time in areas such as administration, animal welfare, arts, children, disabilities, education, emergency services, environment, health, human rights, indigenous, seniors, sport and recreation. The Armadale Volunteer Resource Service currently has over 350 positions available at over 100 different agencies.

Community Organisation
Become a member and register your community organisation with the Armadale Volunteer Resource Service.
The Armadale Volunteer Resource Service:
- Provides a service at no cost to our members or the community
- Publishes a regular newsletter
- Informs our members on training opportunities and grants
- Provides networks for our members to:
- Promote volunteering
- Enhance volunteer management
- Recognise volunteers
- Encourage “Best Practice”
- Share information
- Support each other
