Your Community

Seniors

While the City of Armadale does not directly deliver seniors services, it actively advocates for and supports the delivery of services by local agencies and organisations. The City of Armadale recognises the importance of working with seniors in our community to enhance their ability to meet their own needs and to link them with appropriate services and support when required. The City actively encourages local senior groups and offers advice on their development.

City of Armadale Seniors Plan 2005-2010

Launched in October 2005, the City of Armadale Seniors Plan (PDF 307kb) provides a flexible and dynamic framework that builds awareness, encourages action, fosters partnerships and improves access to information.

It includes a working 'Action' Plan from which various strategies and initiatives will be developed to address the locally-identified issues that exist. In accordance with recommendations from statutory authorities, through the Australian State and Federal Governments, this plan considers nine key social policy areas. They are: family and community, housing and support, transport, safety and security, health, education and information, employment and volunteering, recreation and leisure, and seniors centres.

The City of Armadale, whose support for seniors was recognised with a Local Government Best Practice Award in 2002, continues to work with the community via its Seniors Plan.
